Full Moon on Sanibel!

It was a full moon today, and that means an extremely low tide. What fun - it was like a giant "touch tank" at the aquarium, but with a nice breeze and beautiful sunset! Anemones, crabs, starfish, clams, live sand dollars, and almost every shell I picked up still had the critter inside! I managed to find two wentletraps and a huge cockle shell that was still together, lots of tiny whelks (all the really big ones were still occupied!), some olives, a pretty nutmeg shell and a few others. We saw some "sea pork" that looked like a breast implant - we laughed and laughed! Another woman on the beach found a perfect alphabet cone - I had shell envy! Jean found a beautiful kings crown shell, but we've yet to spot the coveted junonia shell.

The other night we took the "Big M" casino boat out, and while I gambled and lost $20, it was well worth the boat ride. We saw dolphins and sting rays, an amazing sunset and even danced to the live music. I had the best dinner of mahi-mahi EVER at Doc Fords, and today we just sunned, slept and shelled all day. I can't believe I have to go home in just 3 days! whaaaaa! It feels like I just got here!
Sunset and watching American Idol on the deck of the boat
.After taking their photo, I put the starfish into deeper water - who says you can't save the world, one starfish at a time!

In other news, Jason was accepted to Florida International University, and even was awarded an academic scholarship of $5,000 a year for the next three years! Yippee! That is that much less he will have to borrow on student loans. We are so proud of him - he will graduate in a few weeks with his associates degree. And I will have an excuse to come to Florida more often! I hope his career leads him to a job at a nice hotel or resort - mama wants to stay in style! LOL! Here are a few pictures taken over the last few days, including the pretty sunsets, more osprey pictures and some starfish!
