Art Happens! in Yellow Springs

In case you haven't been to Yellow Springs, Ohio lately, there is a cute new shop in the Kings Yard called "Art Happens". It is in the space that Rita Caz jewelers had been located for years. It is a really fun, cute shop that carries a variety of local artists' work (including mine!) and the owners are two really fun, friendly guys. Here is a picture of the shop, tucked away in the corner of Kings Yard, behind the tavern on Xenia Ave.
Just in time for Breast Cancer Awareness month, artist Nancy Mellen introduced her "boob art" series. Her friend was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and was scheduled to have a complete mastectomy. They decided they needed to commemorate her breasts, and both of them created this art work using their "boobs as brushes"! The paintings are quite beautiful and interesting and certainly unique!

Artist Tina Lowery has an amazing group of tree paintings, with interesting human-like figures as the winding tree trunks and branches. I am really in love with her work, right down to the details of the framing, some of them framed in pebbles!

Artist Deborah Link has a few paintings in the shop as well - including the above picture, in which I've zoomed in on a little fairy in the corner of one of her paintings. Isn't she talented?
Over the weekend I'll try to post some more pictures from Art Happens, including work by Scott Kissel, Sue Brezine and Bev Gelbert. I'll be at market on Saturday - don't forget to stop by and say hello - I'll be in the pavillion!
